  • Cuban Coffee

Recently became interested in Cuban coffee & ordered some beans online http://yorkcoffeeemporium.co.uk/cuba...do-coffee.html there's a load of info on the site and there's a page about Cuban coffee on wiki as well. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coff...uction_in_Cuba I had a cup with a cigar recently and they went together well. There's a load of info. About Miami Cuban style coffee which is something different, might see if I can give that a try next.

How did it compare to your normal brew and what's your brewing method and normal choice of bean?

I got a small sampler of ground Cuban coffee thrown in with my raffle prize from cgars. Am yet to try it, waiting for an opportunity to pair it with a smoke (I've not yet had a single stick in 2016!).

Some years ago I went to Miami and every day we'd be drinking cafe cubano from stores along South Beach. Very strong and very sweet - the sugar is placed in the porta filter basket along with the ground coffee and results in a very syrupy extraction. Not very subtle at all but great for a sugary caffeine hit before a night out or after a big meal.

I recently brought a kilo of Cuban coffee back from my Cuban holiday, and have to say its one of the best coffee's I have had,you can taste the similarities between the coffee and the coffee notes you get from Cuban cigars, probably why they go well together. The only other similar coffee to Cuban I have had is Jamaican blue mountain. Very nice!.

Remember that Cuban coffee is meant to be drunk sweet and 50/50 with hot milk. I got some Cubita beans for Christmas and they have rapidly become our favourite. In fact i ordered a kilo yesterday.

Not at all, that's an espresso with condensed milk, also delicious if you can handle the combined caffeine/sugar hit

in Cuba if you just order coffe ... You get espresso .

You have to specifically ask for " cafe American " to get anything else ... Then ask for " con leche " to get milk .

half milk half coffee and sweet ... Never seen in Cuba but I may be looking in the wrong places .

my usuall for after supper ... 2 espressos ( in two separate cups NOT a double espresso ) .

Try one of these Smokey Joe, a 'Cortadito' (Cuban take on a cappuccino) but much nicer
unusual but interesting and yummy way to make a cortadito.

I normally go for Kenyan or Tanzanian. The Cuban beans I got are arabica. The taste is mellow with a smokiness. It isn't bitter at all & went well with a cigar. I usually take coffee black but I tried a 2nd cup this morning with milk.

That Miami cafe cubano is what I saw online. I don't have the kit to make it like that though.

I did the same when I went to the Philippines. That kilo lasted me years! It was great reminiscing with a cup of lovely coffee!

Does coffee last that long? I thought it had a relatively short shelf life.
