Jim Beam Apple Whisky

Seen this in Asda recently. Looks like it could be nice but not sure I'm willing to spend the cash for an entire bottle just to try. Anyone had this? Verdicts?

Hi NIcig, not had this one YET, just finished a bottle of the limited edition Maple Jim beam, which was very very nice so if that's anything to go by I'm sure the apple will be good as well...

Whats with all the flavoured whisky? They already decimated the cider industry with obnoxious drinks that taste like cordial and are inoffensive to undeveloped palates...... But whisky..... Come on, if you dont like how whisky tastes then you should probably be drinking vodka cocktails with a sparkler and a tiny umbrella.

Jim beam is a Bourbon whisky, made with at least 51% corn which makes it naturally sweet, making it ideal to mix with other liquors i.e....apple, maple, honey etc.
If you like the taste of naturally sweeter American bourbons then you probably won't partake in single malts therefore won't mix them with other flavors...

I suspect that the recent trend in pre flavoured whisky such as the offerings from Jack Daniels and Jim Beam are more to do with low quality high volume grain spirit and marketing towards a previously uninterested audience than an attempt to position a quality product targeted at whisky enthusiasts.

Theres certainly nothing wrong with mixing flavours if that's what you enjoy, however I would always advocate buying a decent whisky to start with and mixing yourself for the flavour your trying to achieve.

From what I read....they are trying to make it appeal to the younger and female market...as the perception of whisky it's only a man's drink and they are trying to do that...you've seen the trend happen with beers, cider, vodka...now the whisky.

I actually like Jim Beam as I do Scotch and Irish Single malts. I have tried both Jim Beam Mapple and Black Cherry both are excellent Bourbons and very sweet great on the rocks or as a mixer for cocktails and there is nothing wrong with a good cocktail in all honesty. I would say in general if you like a drink (As I do I will give most Adult beverages a try at least once) then give it a whirl and decide on that.

Drinking is a very personal thing really and it will depend on your tastes, Some people are very much the type who enjoy nothing more than the finest single malt and swear by it and would find Jim Beam unappealing others are the other way round, then there are the people like me in which I will enjoy most drinks or will at least try and it very much depends on my mood, the weather and what I'm doing.

But as far as Jim Beam goes it isn't bad not in the least but its going to depend greatly on you and your tastes.
