Six hour lunch in our rich friends' garden today so I had to take a BHK from my 2010 box. Great creamy nutty flavours but same burn issues as last time and it needed four relights!

Getting over a two week throat infection, finally free of it. A little HdM Du Maire to test the waters again.

perhaps. or perhaps a bad box... common issues on heavy BHKs

i weigh all BHKs when buying them. 54s should be between 14 and 15.5 grammes. but once it goes above 17 grammes, there's a chance it'll be plugged and very good chance it'll burn badly. you can tell the feet apart, too. But i find weight to be something a tad more objective.
before you call my quote bullshit, i've found NO behikes between 16 and 17.5 grammes. if you can't see a bad correlation there, i can't help it. there're obvious inconsistency issues there.

never seen the difference on BHK 52s and 56s, though. so i'm sorry i can't give you an accurate number on what the weight class for 52s should be.

That is disappointing indeed, these should be flawless IMO.

Le Hoyo du Depute - Not the most exciting cigar I've ever smoked but not bad at all for a shade under ?8.

                Very sweet though.

The first one I smoked had been dry boxed for 24 hours

In all honesty I preferred the George Rico I had yesterday

Finished off the day with another Backwoods in my own garden. Its amazing how a raggedy little machine made cigar can taste so smooth..

Got up @ 04:45 to drive to the Netherlands, assemble & inflate my Zodiac, fishing by 08:10. Within an hr I had my first Dutch pike of the season, a wee 3lb'er but a start & I was chuffed as I never caught any here last season.
Had 2 sticks wit me, if I didn't catch by after lunch, than I would smoke a Belinda Princess. If I caught then I had a handmade Party Aristocrat. So after lunch, I lit up the Party & paired it with Juplier Lite 3% (driving home after all).SAM_5096.jpg

So after lunch the question was whether to move or stay put, SAM_5102.jpghaving an other hr casting jerkbaits, whilst having a deadbait out on the other rod, fished against a massive lillybed. After changing lures a dozen times since lunch, I was just watching a Spro Deviator approach the boat, mirrored finish, with rattle; when a massive pike shot from the left & hit the lure just one rod length out! It engulfed the 7inch lure & went ballistic. I managed to give some line & deliberately didn't land it as soon as I could have, as I didn't want it thrashing about in the boat. It leapt out & twirled on it's tail. It calmed a little & I slipped it over the landing net & brought it inboard.SAM_5103.jpg
Unhooking was simple but the photos were pretty crap but I couldn't delay returning the fish any longer, so here's the best I got. It was 19lb 06oz & beat my previous NL bestof 19lb 04 in 2002 & my first dble landed on my boat.SAM_5104.jpg Finally its justifying the cost. Post pics in a sec

What a lovely fish and so much more fun to take her of a lure than a deadbait. Fantastic.
