On to No 15 of 2013's Top 25: the Fernando Le?n Family Reserve Belicoso. I'm told to expect "a balanced, complex smoke with notes of raisin, spice and cocoa, and just a touch of minerals."

Very odd experience. Went from 'oh man, absolutely fantastic, I'm in NC heaven' in the first half to 'meh' in the second. It was so smooth to begin with, kind of a creamy coffee taste, but got salty and bitter later on. It was light and aromatic, then it was just a dull thick smoke. Maybe I was a bit overenthusiastic at the start and that impacted the way it developed. It's a shame really, because it was so unbelievably good and then ended up being a bit of a disappointment.

Might have to add this to the growing 'try again' list. I'd gladly have the first half all over again!
