Nothing much to do this afternoon and so as the weather is so nice decided to have one of my remaining Sir Winstons. Hope you all have a good weekend.

It's tiring doing nothing on holiday, so made time for a Mag 46

Nice strategic shot there.

Interesting one today. Just lit up and old Monte 2. Not sure but will be from around 2010. I have three left including this one. Has a light white dusting on it. Smells ok. Looks ok at either end.

A Little spicy. But has the expected taste.

I got dragged off to a wedding in Southampton today so as soon as the meal was over I found a table on the terrace for me and this rather good D4. I have had this tubo for a couple of years so I don't know how old it is but it was definitely nutty and then into the final quarter I got a blast of what I can only assimilate with salted caramel. Most enjoyable. What was disappointing was being surrounded by young people with cut glass accents who weren't even vaping let alone smoking, what happened to a misspent youth?
Later in the evening I was approached by the groomsmen who had bought Punch Coronations in tubes from Waitrose for the occasion without realising you have to cut the end off. I generously handed over my cutter to be asked 'Where do you cut them?' Of course I did it for them.

Tried my first Upmann Mag 46 on the 23rd - quite aged as this was a 2005 stick - was damn tasty, the best burn and draw I've had on a cigar to date, fairly mellow toasty slightly nuttyness - hopefully Sautter have some more I can get my hands on!

You were lucky, both tommy and I experienced these older 46s getting bitter towards the end. Different boxes as well I should add.

To be fair I didn't smoke it to the nub so maybe I missed out the bitterness on mine - lovely smoke all the same.

In general I find most cigars I smoke get a bit bitter towards the last inch or so, though that could be my in experienced taste buds

If it starts to get bitter purge it. Blow firmly through the cigar to expel unwanted gases but be careful to catch the ash if it falls off.
