A very underfilled Short Churchill and a cup of tea. Listening to sirens, helicopters and explosions. But everything is much calmer than last Saturday. Police have changed their tactics (about time) and have mobilised 89000 riot police throughout France, 9000 of them in Paris. Over 700 arrests so far, 608 in Paris. The government feared violence as never seen before today but it is rather “calm”. Let’s hope that no one on either side will be hurt too badly and that the government will cease to some of the demands and stop taxing the population, especially the poor who barely manage to feed their families nowadays.
December COTM on a walk this morning in La vall?e du Couesnon. No sign of any ammonia in mine, and enjoyed it to the nub. Decided to steer clear of the towns today as no one really knows what's going on. Went to Rennes yesterday and all the banks were being boarded and a lot of gendarmes sitting in vans.
Im not sure if it?s my tastebuds today, or the cigar itself, but less than halfway and I?ve had to abonden it as i got nothing but really bitter notes
i am off to smoke another cigar after dinner to see if it was me or the smoke!
UPDATE
JUST UNRAVELED the cigar, and the undeniable smell of ammonia coming off it is intense! Strange! I have smoked 2018 cigars that didn?t have a trace, so I?m intrigued what year this one is! Also how the second one smokes!
I had a non forum mate over today for a pair of 1997 Serie de Connaisseur #3s. Great smoke and an even better investment as he gave me an Apple watch he was given but didn't want. Result.

Oh dear, looks like these are a miss with most so far. Gutted, I smoked one when I got them and didnt have any problems. Maybe the recent drop in temperature has affected them.

It’s just the magic of a handmade product full of variables even from within the same box! This is a reason why I like to get 2 COTM to give it a fairer shot!
