Just smoked my last canones made by the roller at Enrique Mons La Casa del Habanos in Habana. Obviously made to look and taste like a Siglo VI but at 6 cuc (?4) these were a bargain! Not quite as smooth and creamy as the real thing but still a really good smoke.

I will follow up with another sometime after 10 tonight, perhaps a Monte 2008 sublime.

So this is what I've just christened my shed with (check out my newbie intro post for more info on the shed!)

A Punch Petit Coronation with a large bottle of Innis and Gunn (6.6%). This was my first Punch cigar but by no means my first bottle of I&G. For those who have not tried it, it's quite a sweet beer with a lot of oak and toffee flavours.

I didn't take too long to match up this pair as the Punch was the only cigar I had and the I&G was the only decent beer I had!

I found the first third of the Punch to be ultra light, I could see a lot of smoke coming out of my mouth but it barley felt like there was any. Very smooth with lots of chocolate. The second third got more woody while keeping the chocolate and the flavour remained consistant after that.

I ended up enjoying this pairing a lot more than I thought I would and smoked the cuban right down to the nub although I can't help but feel that, for the price, there are more flavorful cigars I could get. Maybe it's just my newbie palate!

Edit: Doh! There was already a thread for today, sorry.

whilst out today i picked up a montecristo petite tubos!!!! had it after my dinner (venison, sauted chestnut mushrooms/red onions/garlic and potatoes) with a wee snifter of black bush!!!! started off alright, then went nowhere fast!!! i've never been a big fan of montecristo, but this put me right of them!!! reckon i'll never buy a montecristo cigar ever again (not even the EL2010 or a sublime)!!! i think i'll stick to the tried and tested brands i know and love well......... bolivar and partagas.......

        disappointing!!!!

Had myself a quite long lasting Man O' War Special Edition Figurado. Beautiful smoke it was, but I'm still one for the Ruination at the end of the day.

Having thought that last Monday was to be our last cigar afternoon of the year, we were pleasantly surprised by the pleasant weather today, so tried our luck for one more.

We're definitely approaching the winter though - it was mild in the sun, but a little chilly in the shade of the pub.

Anyway, I went for an Oliva Serie V Churchill (at 52RG I think they're stretching the definition of a Churchill, but what ho!) It started with a ridiculously strong blast of pepper, then settled nicely. However, after half-way the burn became an issue - at a third (on the fourth occasion of it going out), I gave up. A bit of a Jeckyll and Hyde 'gar this one.
