  • 2009 UK Habanos Regional Edition Launch 28/9/2009

I thought you might like to know of the party we have planned for the launch of the 2009 Regional Editions in case you hadn't seen the news piece on the H&F site.

Monday 28th September is the date to note in your diaries and the Wyndham Grand London, Chelsea Harbour is the place to be. As you may well be aware the Regional Editions for this year are the Choix de L??poque from El Rey del Mundo and the Selecci?n Suprema from Juan Lopez.

Please follow the link for full details on the event, the cigars and how you can obtain tickets- http://cigars.co.uk/news/2009-uk-hab...edition-launch

Looking forward to seeing some of you there

Grrrr! There's something I'd like to be at in London just about every week for the next two months (I suppose there's something I'm interested in all the time - but not necessarily worth the trip)... Absolutely none of which are within a few days of each other! It'd be okay if I could make two trips with a couple of nights and knock off four or five things... as it is, it would require about for or five return journeys... which are boring trips...

I've just got this in a news letter from H&F, I'm planning to go, sounds too good to miss,

The Wyndham Grand London?s new 8th floor Cigar Terrace high above Chelsea Harbour with staggering views of the skyline, notably down river to the London Eye, St Paul?s and beyond, is the setting for the first tasting of Hunters & Frankau?s two 2009 UK Regional Editions: the Choix de L??poque from El Rey del Mundo and the Selecci?n Suprema from Juan Lopez.

There will be canap?s and you will be offered Veuve Clicquot Champagne to partner the Choix de L??poque and the remarkable Glenmorangie Signet Single Malt Whisky, which is distinguished by the use of ?chocolate malt? in its ingredients, will be tasted with the Selecci?n Suprema. Expert speakers will explain the finer points of each drink and, of course, both cigars.

El Rey del Mundo?s Choix de L??poque is a short, stout, Petit Edmundo-sized cigar (4 3/8?/110 mm x 52 ring gauge) with a light to medium flavour. It is designed for occasions when the time to enjoy a good cigar is short; an all too frequent occurrence in these days of smoking restrictions. Its name, which translates from the French as ?The Choice for the Age?, reflects this thought. It?s a cigar to beat the ban and an ideal pre-lunch or dinner choice with a glass of champagne. Just 1,372 numbered, labelled boxes containing 25 of these cigars have been made in Havana for release exclusively in the UK.

By contrast the Juan Lopez Selecci?n Suprema is a large cigar. Equally stout (52 ring gauge), it measures 6 5/8? or 170 mm in length. This rare size, known as the Torre Iznaga, was last used in 2006 for the Trinidad Colecci?n Habanos ?Book?. A special band, based on an old design, has been created to dress the cigar, which is presented in Cabinet Selection boxes containing 10 cigars, 2,040 of which have been produced in Cuba just for the UK. With its classic Cuban medium to full flavour it has the body to match the Glenmorangie Signet
                  .

If the cigars are available to buy, perhaps one of the attendees could take orders for us who can't make it?
