I don't care what you think of the Daily Mail, there's no denying the facts

Newcastle City Council, Manchester City Council, Durham County Council, Northumberland County Council and North Tyneside have all banned smoking on pavements outside hospitality venues.

They want the tax revenue from the tobacco or they would just make it illegal

Let's panic herf, get as much in as we can! I reckon there'll always be pubs that will have an area for smokers, even if it's at the bottom of the garden

Smoke free is the endgame for the anti smoke brigade unfortunately.

This does seem to be councils going against the government to force through their own agenda. Hopefully there’s a fight to be had that actually happens over this

You can still have herfs at your own properties.
It won’t be long till they’re trying to ban meat in pubs and restaurants

I grew up a ferocious anti-smoker, surrounded by smokers... so what thats imbued upon me is a feeling of ensuring my cigar smoking doesn't impose upon others.

I cant think of any BOTL/SOTL who are as relentlessly invasive as almost any other 'cause' or passion... we are generally quite quiet, friendly and welcoming sorts who naturally think of others.

I agree PJ, worrying times but I'd like to note for the record, that's the first time you have acknowledged my fav paper sometimes contains facts!

I've read the Mail for years Simon, it's other people who seem to have a problem with it. If you take away all the celebrity crap and compare the Mail Online to the Independent Online you will find almost identical stories.
