Some interesting ports also. However it would have to be something fairly earth shatteringly good to smoke for me to start opening bottles, I can no longer afford to replace them.

Regarding smokes, I am not sure anybody who would be up for this dinner would be sitting on anything suitable, just aged regular production cigars would not suffice, I suspect. As you say we can source interesting things from Teddington.

This is not going to be cheap......GOOD, keeps the riff raff out!
So anyone who cannot afford this is riff raff then?. Not a very complimentary opinion of a large number of BOTL/SOTL on this Forum.

Apart from being offensive it is also boorish and snobbish.

I have no objection to this type of event as it is a matter of personal choice and finance. What I object to is ill considerd remarks designed, or so it appears to me, to rub peoples noses in it.

Ha sense of humour failure alert......

I will let you know when I care.

Geez cigarsmoke calm down, it was a tongue and cheek remark, I'd probably say something similar too for a laugh.

        Please leave it there.

RE: The Cost: To clear up any misunderstanding

I thought it might be worth stressing that the aim of this herf is to provide an inexpensive opportunity for forum members to try a variety of high-quality cigars, wines and spirits, but for a fraction of what it would normally cost us.
The objective is to make the event accessible to everyone in possession of a few good cigars or a special bottle of something.
          No (actual) money required!

Staying on the subject of money, let's be frank, cigar smoking/collecting isn't a particularly cheap hobby. I think it's fair to say that 'most' of us in this forum have, at one time or anther, spent upwards of ?150 on purchasing cigars. There's nothing unusual (or elitist) about that.

More to the point, I suspect there's quite a few of us who're sitting on (at least a few) cigars that would retail for ?20 each and more.
The kind of cigars, that like me, you're probably saving for a special occasion?
Cigars that demand to be smoked with a good brandy or whiskey round a table of 'like-minded' BOTL who also appreciate those things?

It's also quite likely that many of us have either bought (or been given) a bottle (or two) of something we keep for special occasions, be it a good bottle of Whiskey, Brandy, Wine or whatever.

So, here are the questions I'm asking. . .

Take a look in your humidor, or your drinks cabinet or cupboard, and do a quick count up. . . think you've got ?150 worth of stuff that would fit the bill? (I bet there's more than you think).

If so, then why not come along and try a whole host of: Premium, aged or rare Cigars, Wines, Brandies and Whiskies with the rest of us misfits?

How often are we going to get opportunities like this?
Surely that qualifies it as a special occasion!

No tickets available, no money required, just come along and 'whoop-it-up' with the rest of us.

Interested? Then let's talk about when, where and what we're thinking about bringing.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe I will offer up cigars instead. A box of 2001 Hoyo Churchills for the smoking, well 22 left I think.

They are good, that is why I purchased an entire box!!!! Do not confuse my tales of smoking with the stuff I have stashed away!

Aye. I have no idea what would be ?150 worth of 'good stuff', in all truth. I'd like to attend an event like this though as it appears the shooting has fallen through.

No it hasn't, I only confirmed it earlier this week (whilst confirming that the date was changing). I'm working with H&H to find a new date (after the previous one was pinched ) that doesn't clash with anything else on here, isn't too far into the winter and that they have space for us.

To keep things simple, I thought the easiest way would be if we used C.gars (or Ajays) prices as a guide as to what the value of every-one's cigars would be (the singles prices?).

I.E. If, for arguments sake, someone had half-a-dozen (6 in new money) of this years Montecristo Gran Edmundo EL's, they're listed at ?21 each x 6 = ?126 and so on.

Wine and spirit values could be worked out using the prices of someone like Oddbins or Majestic?
(Slightly trickier if it's something vintage or rare, but I'm sure we can work something out).

Does that make things any easier?

Go for it big fella! I'm sure we can sweet talk Mitch or Ajay into converting that 'Hard-Cash' into something: sexy, tasty, luxurious and combustible!
Hey, maybe they'd like to come?
