  • Cgars Wed 3rd Aug 25th anniversary (will go to JJ Fox in the afternoon)

Anyone going? I bought a ticket as soon as it was announced as I went to one ten years ago and it was damn good. I think I’ll head to JJ Fox in the afternoon (eg 1ish) if anyone can join me?

nah. You know there's a posh dress code 'lounge wear' or whatever. I told Mitch I only dress up for weddings & funerals! Sure it'll be fun! Enjoy!

Would have gone but Offshore; as usual. Let's see some pic's after Deano.

Lounge wear is just a informal suit. Apparently!

Informal. Suit. Not two words you'll find juxtaposed in my vocabulary!

            Have you ordered yours yet!?

Informal as in not one of the classic formal dress codes (white / black tie etc). So just a normal suit.

Loungewear’s meaning has changed over time so you could try going in your joggies and a hoodie!

I've always avoided anywhere that demands a dress code. Maybe it's a hangup since my old school uniform days! I was the only person in jeans and T-shirt at the BR event recently. Some day I might grow up

It’s a weird line to tread as they want the photos and image of the event to go with the whole rakish image that they’re trying to push cigars towards but that would likely alienate the majority of regular cigar smokers, certainly anywhere out of the south.

As someone who tends to dress on the smarter end anyway I can’t decide if I like it or not, making people wear suits that clearly don’t want to rarely goes well

Blazer, slacks & tie/cravat should be sufficient IMHO.

Any photos of this event? Seen some on line, looks a fine do, especially at Bosidales. Noted not everyone was wearing a tie or a jacket.

To my shame, I only took one photo.

Was a really good night, little goodie bag with 4 NC cigars, plus a PLPC and a RASS. Lovely speech from Mitchell, who followed Jemma Freeman who managed to call him Mitch throughout and got the name of his wife wrong!

Great selection of drinks and nibbles, very friendly crowd - other than the very drunk chap who accosted me outside and had no idea of personal space as he grilled me on what cigars I collected.

Dress varied, some had no ties, some wearing jeans. Some of us kept the decorum at the right level though!

Grand indeed. Aye, Mitchell doesn't like being called Mitch, he says that was his father's name. Hopefully Dominique got the names right?

The bugger with a lounge suit is that after an indoor cigar fest, it needs airing for a week or sending to be cleaned…
