Guys, I'm waiting here with bated breath...

Gossip? Pics? I want, nay, NEED 'em!
I'm still waiting for the whiskey to whisk me away
And I'm still waiting for the ashtray to lead me astray

No gossip, was great to meet David. Met a couple of possible newbies in JJs, hoping they sign up.

Great evening, good to catch up with old faces and meet some new ones.

Started the day with Pete and a 05 Robusto extra ...very nice. then we met up with a few of the guys at JJF but too late for another smoke so off to 1 St James.

They put on a really good spread with a very generous raffle, lots of snacks and endless wine from Berry Bros next door.

I smoked one of the 2 Dunhill NC's we were given, the torpedo version. It was similar to the Corona I tried last time I visited. Perfectly pleasant in the first third, comes on straight away and med to full bodied. For me it then does nothing more and by the last third I really wasn't enjoying it very much, sorry Dunhill guys but just not my kind of stick.

Carried on drinking (too much) wine and lots of great conversation. Lit up a Monte 2006 EL and that was just great, these get better and better.

Many thanks to all or organised and attended for a great evening ...now over to Nic for some photo's.

I am a pipe man also, yes.

I was on the organising side this time - almost as much fun but you just can't drink as much. Actually it was Tazminah organising everyone and everything.

Many thanks to everyone for supporting the night. Including those of us 'working' we had 38 people in total and that was probably just about right for the size of the shop. I understand from Nic and Taz that we had to turn away over 10 people who wanted to come - that is a real shame and apologies. However we want to do it again - maybe a Forum only event next time?

We want to create a really special cigar shop at 1 St. James's and I asked those present for feedback - what would make you come to the shop on a regular basis? As an example would opening until 11pm one day each week / month be an attraction? Spice up the range? Changes to the sampling area?

                Any thoughts welcome.
I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

Hi Robert, thanks again for a great event.

The shop is great, one could say stunning. By far the single biggest thing that would bring me back is a full(er) selection of Cuban cigars. I have smoked the Dunhills a couple of times now but they are not to my taste.

I don't know if this is something you can/want to entertain but I think you will find that is by far the biggest issue for most enthusiasts.

You have some stiff, established competition on St James's and I suspect only a full range of Cubans will pull in the regulars ...you do have by far the nicest sampling area IMHO.

I agree with Monkey, a few more Cubans would make me a regular in the sampling area

But BAT don't "do" Cubans, I assume for legal reasons. I was not there as I was told it was sold out. I was offered a forum members ticket on the morning of the event but by then it was too late to re-arrange my work schedule.

Well they asked so that is the answer, if it is out of their scope they will have a hard time attracting smokers who predominately favour CC's.

That is a lovely place to smoke one off. I've tainted its walls.

I envy you guys who are able to get into central London so easily.

                            Lucky beggars.

I was in bed by 9.00pm yesterday out there in the provinces.

echo what the guys have been saying always good to meet up with the guys old and new alike, if they can a few more cubans would make it a more attractive alternative
