  • Hi from Scotland + a suggestion request based on my faves

    Hi all,

Just introducing myself! I'm Stuart from Scotland. I live in Larbert near Falkirk and work in Edinburgh.

I've had a few cigars over the years. A few Cohibas and a few others but nothing too regularly.

On holiday in Portugal recently the hotel shop was selling Guantanamera Cristales for Euro 1.89. I had no idea if they were any good but for that price who could resist. They were ok and I smoked a few on the warm evenings! It ignited my interest though!

I popped into CGARS ltd in Edinburgh and picked up a some sticks to smoke, mostly this week whilst on holiday.

    I got the following cigars:

    Montecristo (No 2)
    Trinidad
    Partagas
    Bolivar
    Romeo y Julieta

The RyJ was the biggest at about 5.5" the rest were all about 5". I can't recall the models but have it written down somewhere.

I smoked the Montecristo first and wasn't that impressed. I found the burn a bit uneven and got a lot of tongue bite.
I loved the Partagas. Great draw. Even burn and a great smooth taste
I loved the Trinidad. Great draw. Even burn and great taste. Smoked it until my fingers were getting hot! My favourite of the batch!!!
The Bolivar seemed to split a bit when smoked. It was also hard to get the smoke drawn through it.
The Romeo y Julieta disappointed me. Didn't seem that special to my taste.

So all in all a few good ones and a few to maybe try again at a later date.

I'll be lurking in the forums.

Does any one have any suggestions on other cigars to try based on my enjoyment of the Partagas and Trinidad?

    Thanks in advance,

    Stuart

Just a hint both tongue bite and splitting mean your smoking too hot which means too fast, try slow down to a draw every 45sec to 1 min this also lets the flavour develop better.

If you liked trini and partagas check out the rest of there sizes as each one can bring something to the table.

      Cheers for that.
Will defo bear that in mind.
Getting a few more of the T and P is certainly on the cards.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Welcome, if you like Trinidad then the funnadore is one to go for. Also try the Partagas Serie D number 4.
