Hi guys! First post and in need of some sound, honest advice.
So, I've been a casual cigar smoker for a number of years now, no particular favorites although I am fond of a Montecristo No 4.
I have never had to store cigars as i always just tend to buy the odd few sticks at a time and consume them before replacing.
Anyway, I've just got back from Cuba and you can probably guess whats coming next. ;-)
Lets just say i got a little carried away!
I came back with a 25 box of No 4's, 10 Madura 5 Magicos plus some Siglio II's, the odd single plus a bunch of hand rolled cigars from a tobacco farm. Oops!
I've popped the farm cigars into a tupperware box by themselves and into the deep freeze for a few days to kill any nasty's that may have hitched a ride back with me.
BTW, they are made from the same leaves as Cohiba, the farmer fermented using his own recipe, there actually really good! A little harsher but full of flavor.
So i have this nice selection now and no where to store them. Ive popped them all into a large tupperware container for now and have a Xikar digi Hygrometer and Xikar crystal humidifier on its way. Not sure if that was a good move or not as i was kind of buying blind.
What i would love from you guys is advice on a good looking but functional humidor that wont break the bank to help me display and preserve my new collection/investment!
Any help or advice on a humidor or anything I've said above that maybe wrong please chime in.
Thanks Guys.
Dave

I would give the freezer treatment to the rest of your cuba haul along with the farm rolls. Cuba is notorious for fakes though. If its your first box purchases you might not have noticed. There is a lot sold outside the offical LCDH shops and these are all most certainly fake. Which in a good case are like your farm rolls. In a bad case are filled using floor sweepings and lead paint.
"knewbee greets" forum or you can post one up over there yourself. Your choice....and oh yeah - welcome to the show.
