      What does Maledetto mean, please?

Is it something to do with bad saying / swearing, or... scorned / mocked?

I'm OK with the Toscano bit.

      Welcome.
      Hi Robusto,

Maledetto means cursed. In the context it has a couple of meanings:

It's the title of a book by a guy called Curzio Malaparte. One of the points in the books is that Tuscans are cursed by their character, always fiery, never afraid to say what they think. It has become an expression to indicate the good wine/good food/good smoke/wominising people in Tuscany.

Also it is a common way to label the Toscano cigars, cursed by non smokers for their "pungent" (to say the least) aroma.

      Thanks again for the welcome!

          Cheers, Alberto.

I was guessing from the French adjective MAUDIT which means mocked or scorned.

Putting it in context as you have makes it far more lively and interesting.

          Thanks for that.

Well, the vintage is what it is; if I was a Bordeaux I'd probably be at my best, but the wife doesn't really buy that .

Again, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, look forward to being here.
