newbie from cheshire

Hey guys!!

i'm dave a gar newbie from Cheshire, i've only smoked reds up to now but really wann get into gars big time. guess i need advice really so forgive me if i sound stupid. should i go to a specialist tobacconist? i wanna big fat gar. also how do you smoke them? i mean you don't inhale right?

welcome to the forum Dave, we all start green but after a few weeks we'll have you puffing like a pro!

I tend to smoke a fatty by taking around three drags at a time to get enough smoke to really savour the flavour. You're not supposed to inhale but, i tend to inhale a little, think it tastes better but if your new to gars it can make you sick pretty quickly.

regarding where to get your cigars, goggle to see if there are any cigar shops local to you or there are plenty on sites on line where you can get your fix. (check the where to buy section of the site). You may want to buy a few singles first to see what brands you prefer.

Forgive me but I don't know what reds are? Unless you mean Marlboro?

I don't inhale it, I just sip the smoke. The whole point for me is the taste so it makes no sense to inhale. Having smoked cigarettes for years before that meant it felt a bit strange at first not inhaling, but you still absorb the nicotine through your mouth and stomach, just slower.

It depends how it's burning as to how I smoke, but generally a quick puff to get it going then a long slow draw to get the flavour.

I'd go with what the other Dave says. For the majority, inhaling isn't partaken in, though some do inhale. I did once, by accident. I was still coughing and choking the following week.

As Kdot has said, take a look for a local tobacconist first (the best list is here - only the best are listed). Otherwise use someone like CGars Ltd to order a few singles to get you going. Ultimately you will discover new and cheaper ways (to spend more money ) to buy cigars.

welcome to the forum dave, you'll find partaking of the leaf in the uk can be quite expensive but have a looky round this here forum and youill find there are ways and means to enjoy a nice stogie.

ps avoid Guantanamera cigars unless you're used to smoking a turd in a rizla, they are bloody awful.

Welcome to the forum, I am not sure I have ever met a virgin!

You will find lots of great advice here on starting smoking, buying and every little cigar nuance you could want.

Just hope you have deep pockets 'cause it can get expensive.

One final point, you have already had a shot across your bows from our crazy Mexican chum but he is totallyloco so make sure you take what he says with a large pinch of chilli!!!

thanks all for making me feel so welcome, i havent smoked my first one yet. Not been able to get to Manchester to visit the tobacconists i want to go to. I will probably be asking advice from in there too. Has anyone got any tips on what my first cigar should be?
