  • Newbie introducing myself

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you mods for allowing me to join this wonderful forum.

My name is Wayne and I am 54 years old living in sunny South Wales UK. I have smoked cigars on an irregular basis over the years but now is the time for me to give up those lung busting cigarettes completely and indulge in the luxury of a cigar on a regular basis.

Lots to learn and lots to buy and try, all of which I am really looking forward to.
I can see already this site should come with a warning sticker saying (WARNING Rabbit Hole Ahead LOL) but hey ho that's all part of the fun.
Hope I will be able to contribute in some way.

Take care and stay safe everybody,
    Wayne

Welcome, great intro! Yes, the addiction to the havana hobby will definitely worsen with frequent trips to UKCF!

Thank you Deano for your kind words, really appreciated it and yes I have already thought about re-mortgaging the house but I need to do it without the wife's knowledge. All advice is welcome.

Thank you Pandora, I had to wait a few days for moderation acceptance on this forum and have been chomping at the bit to have a good look around here. Fantastic site and really looking forward to learning as much as I can .

Exactly that Peejay ..and nice to meet you.

My initial thoughts when I decided to give up the cigs and concentrate on cigars (with the odd pipe) was the money I could save.
I certainly need to reconsider that thought.
I done exactly the same when I stopped using disposable razors like Mach 3 etc thinking that single blade razors and cut throats would be not only more environmentally friendly, but better for my skin and pocket. I went down a "Rabbit Hole" with that shall we say but I enjoyed the journey.....
My biggest worry is how long I can keep a cigar in a humidor (once I have a humidor that is.)

Best piece of advice and one thing that's often repeated here; if you decide to get a humidor look at the one you think you need, then buy the model in the range at about 10x the size

Thanks for the heads up Deano. I have been pondering on what humidor to purchase and am really pleased you brought that to my attention. Do you have an opinion on the "Germanus?" range. They look reasonable to me but I am pretty much clueless.
