Germanus have a 'B-Stock' section on their website (a little hidden I think, but its somewhere in their menus). I bought my last one there at a decent discount and pretty damn cheap, even with it delivered from Germany. Its served me well so far and no noticeable damage.

    EDIT: Heres the link
Discounted Variant "1B" I select all Humidors carefully. That leads to the fact that a minor part is classified as B-Quality. All these Humidors still work well, otherwise I would fully discard them. These only show optical blemishes. B-Quality Humidors are new Humidors with (minor) optical blemishes at a largely discounted price. If you want to buy a used humidor, you're in the right category, too. Returned items, which can show wear, are sold here at a low sale price. Those items are clearly marked as such in title and description.

I think I'd rather pick something from there than take my chances with something second hand
    Thanks for the link Kern.

[QUOTE=Simon Bolivar;n733736]I have a few cigars now & I would say it's nice to start off with at least one nice, presentable, attractive humi you can take pride in. My wife even bought me my first 50 stick & first 5 drawer humi's (& she hates cigars) & was happy for them to take pride of place in the living room. But should you fall head of heels down the long slippery slope & end up buying more & by the box, then indeed I would recommend Coolidors e.g. Igloo Cool boxes/ Lock tupperware type boxes. These do the job as well as fancy & very expensive large cabinent humi's & can be hidden away. Just keep your cigars stable. You want the=m out of direct sunlight & not too cold either. Stability is more important; then get a digital hydrometer & store around 63-65%. That's the Goldilocks range. [/QUOTE

Thank you so much for such valuable information. I think having read everyone's info I will go for a humidor but firstly buy myself some bovida as I have some click tuppaware for the time being. This gives me an excuse to press the on line "Buy Cigars Now" button.

        Welcome buddy,

I'm sure someone has probably advised looking at a wineador. Go on ebay and pick up (within the lockdown rules of course) a wine fridge which will probably be cheaper than a wooden humidor and obviously have a larger capacity

Although I think some people do turn the wine fridge/cooler on, most people don't, so you can (like I did) buy one that doesn't even work. The important thing is that the seal works as all you're doing is getting an air-tight container which you can then regulate with, say, your Bovidar packs.

Welcome to the forum Wayne - you will fit in here in no time at all. Ex-smoker here too! it's been ten years since I quit 'the habit', and although I have smoked cigars on and off for most of my life, I only came to really appreciating what the cigar gods have to offer around 3 years ago. But yes, be warned once you're enticed in the keys get thrown away. I would just echo others advice, be prepared to get storage larger than you actually need. I'm sure you will get lots of sound advice, so take your time and enjoy the journey.

                    Good morning Rich B
                    Lovely to hear from you.
I am not far from you. I live near the Celtic Manor Golf Course Just outside Caerleon.

Would be lovely to meet up one day as soon as this covid is a thing of the past.
                    Take care and stay safe,

My sister in law owns a hotel and she has told me she has a Wine Cooler U/S that I can have as soon as lockdown here in Wales is over.

The advice and warm welcome from this forum has been truly amazing, including your own may I add. I am very humbled and excited to get started.
Cigarettes are a thing of the past for me and as you said I have kicked the "Habbit." and I can understand why it is frowned upon.
I had the most amazing cigar that was bought for me at Christmas. It was a H. Upmann Magnum Connoisseur A Cigar. For the first time in my life I actually took time out to really appreciate it on my own and from that day on I cant stop thinking about cigars. So much so I ordered a few books to start learning about cigars.
                        Absolutely incredible reading.
Really looking forward to the adventure.
All the best and stay safe,
                        Wayne

The world of cigars offers a rabbit hole very easy to fall down and get lost in. I'm fairly new as well and find the whole thing very interesting, from the growing and manufacture, through to storage and ageing. So you've got plenty to learn about!

Any questions are always welcome on here as well, there are a lot of knowledgeable guys 👍

I love Upmann but for me the A isn't their best!
