  • Hello

Hi everyone, My name is Pete and its great to meet you all! Been smoking cigars on and off for best part of 20 years which makes me sound like some sort of stogie veteran but tbh my knowledge isn't anything special - basically I know what I like and I like what I smoke

I'm generally quite a quiet bloke so you might not see me post much. Looking forward though to reading reviews, tips, experiences etc. of everyone.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. Wondering if what you like has changed over the years? And how you cope with the ever changing catalogue of cigars (assuming Cubans)!

          .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Thanks bud. I'd probably say I've gone from smoking the sort of cheaper Cubans like JLPs and Guantanameros to more established brands which is probably a natural progression. I've also grown to really love a lot of non-Cubans and narrowed down my favourite flavour profile to mainly maduro-style wrappers (San Andres wrappers are lush!). I still can't get with the really stronger types of sticks like Cain though . One other thing I've nailed down over the years also is I prefer a robusto/hermosa #4 size across Cubans and NCs.

Apart from that I can't think what else!

Sounds good, what are your fav NC Maduros? Partagas and Cohiba do a nice line in Maduros too but pound for pound the best NCs are far better value.

Big fan of some Rocky Patels in maduro like the vintage 1990 & 1992, the Decade too is a cracker. Also really like Nub maduro. Drew Estate too do some belters like Undercrown, the Liga range and MUWATs. Was in Mexico about 4 years ago and got some local sticks all made with San Andres wrappers and they were brilliant.

Haven't tried the Partagas maduro but a mate did gift me a Cohiba one and it was very nice.

How about you bud? What NC maduros are you into?

Those are all good, I would add the AF Anejo, Undercrown 10, Camacho Triple Maduro, and RP ALR 2nd Ed.

I havent tried any of them, i'll need to add them to the Wanted list! I did get some AF Hemingway maduros a while back, they were a cracking smoke. AFs are a good brand actually, a mate brought me some of the Xtra Viejos back from Dominican Republic a few years ago, they were beautiful!

The UC 10 was voted the best cigar of 2021 in Halfwheel's consensus list, so that is a must try. Also the Plasencia Alma Fuerte and Oliva Melanio Maduro are two that are highly rated, I don't love them but will give them another go as I am liking maduros more.
