Hello Raymond. Nice to have you join us.

So when you're not busy practising your routines in Milan with all those lovely acrobatic ladies... what do you smoke? Any favourites so far?

Don't worry Raymond, I won't tell your wife. We can all dream freely here

          Hello Max
          Where to start?

I'm in my 70s now so I think some of the observations about the cigar industry and it's customers compared to the 60s and 70s is strikingly different than the younger cigar smoker.
One of the biggest advantages for the industry was indeed the start of the internet which opened up advertising and forums like this one.
Not only did it increase cigar sales it brought in a new generation of cigar smokers en mass.
Something never seen before within the industry.
Advertisers have a lot to answer for.

There are more poor cigars in the world today than there has ever been.
Sweeping statement I admit. But it's my personal opinion.
As my gran used to say, " Many a pretty picture on a rotten box of chocolates"
The place is flooded with so many, brands and new launches every week.
Everyone claiming to be top notch and backed up by YouTube videos, magazines..CA internet and newbie smokers.
Far too many in my opinion means an unsatisfactory data base To build up buyer confidence. Within a short time the brand becomes end of line and it's gone. That's happening on an increasing basis.
The majority New World type cigars.

From what I can gather, every Cuban cigar smoker looks to find something that fits the Cuban cigar profile at a lower price point.I
          I have been there.
          Today we have two problems.
If there is anything that comes near to a Cuban cigar it is usually more expensive or the same price.

I agree with your points, except that often really good NC's are now more expensive than Cuban's, e.g. the Opus line.

Did you start smoking Havana's in your youth or more recently?
