  • Newbie from West Yorkshire says hello

    Hello

I've been skulking around for a few days now looking for advice about my first Humidor buy. I thought I'd better drop in and say hello.

I used to be a cigarette smoker until my kids came along and like a good lad I stopped.

Last year I went to Cuba for the first time and thought I'd try the local speciality as you do, when in Rome and all that. I bought some minis and 4 or 5 different smokes to try (H.Upmann Churchill, Romeo & Julietta no 4, H Upmann Corona Minor I think from memory).

They didn't last too long though.

I then discovered Cuaba Divinos on a trip to Edinburgh and have stuck to them ever since. A mate has just returned from Gibraltar and brought me back another 25 Divinos and 20 Cohiba minis which should see me through to my second holiday to Cuba in October of this year. I think I may bring back more that 4 or 5 this year.

Any suggestions for a full flavoured smoke to accompany a good single Malt Whisky, one of my other weaknesses, would be greatly received. Oh and they must be good outdoors unfortunately ours is a no smoking property.

    Cheers

    John

      Welcome John

Whisky & Cigars, your in good company here. One of my favourite whiskies is Lagavulin (distillers edition is divine), I like to pair a Partagas Series D No4 with it, a pretty rock solid smoke, flavourful and some good development through the stages of the cigar, and it can stand up to the strong peatiness of the whisky.

                Hello and welcome.
I am afraid i am no help as I've yet to find a cigar that doesn't go well with a single malt.
