I gave up On building PC's years ago. Super cooling and Mineral Oil baths hold no interest to me. I gave up the desk for the sofa and big telly when 1080p was good enough for my eyes. With 4k and even 8k looming console gaming looks good enough for some time yet.

The one thing that has 're-iintroduced me to the world of computing is the raspberry Pi, very reminiscent of computer meddling of years gone by. Fun and quirky. Single board computers and embedded design really interests me at the moment, low power purpose programmed applications is the way forward in my book.

Though I am playing with the idea of building a reasonably powerful desktop for video and music editing.... either that or just buy an iMac.

At the moment in BF4, I am loading in so quick that I have to wait 12-14 seconds where I have nothing to do! A MSI Nvidia GTX 780 should keep you going for some time. What resolution monitor are you using?

            Cheers,

She runs really well, no noticeable loading times in BF4.
I have a 27" Asus 144mhz monitor, helps my aged eyes see things clearer!

I used to own powerful PCs and a few games consoles. Now all I have is a Notebook laptop and my Pi!

Who says that computing cant be conducive to a fruitful life? Computing, when used intelligent gives back more than it takes......... Most people don't use computers intelligently.

                      The GPU's are R9 280X, which is a re-branded HD 7970.

As soon as I read up on the new Maxwell architecture being implemented, I sold those cards rapidly. I only lost ?40 per card. I then went and bought 2 x GTX 970's obviously in SLi. I went for the Gigabyte G1 as it means that the chips on the card have been selected to be the best. With this in mind, I can overclock a GTX 970 to be on par with the GTX 980.....The cooler on there is the Windforce, which is ridiculous as it can cool cards at 600w, but with the Maxwell being used the TDP is ridiculously low. So the cards barely go above 60 degrees Celsius even when benchmarking and overclocked. I sold my AMD cards at just the right moment as they have had to slash all their prices since Nvidia has not gone crazy in regards to price per GPU. This has basically rendered their flagship R9 290x dead in the water. Rumours are that the next AMD will be on a 20nm chip, although Nvidia are also looking to do this. As with any rumours, a pinch of salt is required!

I also play on a 27inch Dell Ultrasharp which has an IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 (A better resolution than your standard HD TV). This resolution and above is absolutely stunning. I have used this monitor for 3+ years now.....Heaven, although when I bought purchased it, it was ?800....

Anyhow, if anyone here plays BF4, let me know as I can add you, you can join Teamspeak, play in squads whilst talking to each other. Great times

Lastly - Any PC or Laptop questions or recommendations, let me know. I can help no matter the specification of you PC / Laptop and can also build a gaming rig (PC) or a family PC based on your maximum spend limit. Warranties will be typically better than buying from Dell, HP etc.

Trust OK and any queries, do not hesitate in posting them up!
