Unsure if anyone is interested in this, but I'm having great performance even in remote locations with Three mobile broadband, using a Huawei router and external attenna.

It's £11 a month for 6 months then £22, unlimited data on Three.

The Huawei 525 router https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0815J4LQC/ and Panorama WMM8G-7-38 antenna https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QNRYVXF do set you back about £200, albeit hunting on ebay etc can get it nearer £175.

My parents live in a village where they can only get ADSL at 7mb/s and whilst I can get FTTC in my home, it's only 35mb/s due to noise. Using this I'm getting 40mb/s at my parents - and an unbelievable 110mb/s at my house! I'll be taking this with me to France as the parents' places don't have internet...

Obviously you need a mobile signal, but at my parents it's 1 bar on my phone and the antenna picks it up brilliantly.

You're not worried about the Chinese secret service listening in?

Very interested. If you're not swearing at it in three months I might give it a go....

And you don't need this router, any decent 5g router will do!

The outside aerial is a good idea though. And the price is right.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

That router is a 4g+ one. The 5G one is 200quid-ish and I can't get 5g here - useful for those who can though.

I could have done with this information before Virgin put cables in my village around 6 months ago, the best I could get was around 17mb/s now I get up to 550 so I’m golden.

Might get some decent fibre speeds in my village sometime...
