Surely it was the inviting of members from here that caused banning in the first place?

True dat Eddie but burying the hatchet and being members of both places might bring some much needed harmony..

      Here's hoping

        … which would no longer be a "private" forum… I can't see this happen…

WOOOOO! TJ...amnesty doesn't mean those people on the other forum would want to invite say "you" for instance..or hadn't you noticed..some people on here don't get you...& why would they want to invite some of the mods over to them as again people here see them as part of the problems!
UKCF is an open forum..the other private...different beasts..I'm a member of several clubs & associations that even if I wanted you to join the policies in place wouldn't allow it...

Not sure what this has to do with my suggestion, chico, but you observation on banning is not accurate.

Way back in the day, folks were banned for a variety of reasons, most prominently for blatant lack of respect for UKCF members and rules violations. As far as I know, no one has ever been banned solely for inviting members to another forum. No doubt, however, some of those who have been banned for cause recently were also participating in recruitment practices.

But that's the way the cookie sometimes crumbles.

Yeah I'm not asking for invites to everyone here to there. Though I was always told I was welcome to sign up and when I did I was promptly banned before posting...

Stunned Deano..absolute classic example of the moderators not in agreement with what YOU want,,and they're charged with moderating YOUR forum..
As El Cat suggested.. overhaul the moderators..to take away any responsibility from you making the decision, open a poll...

Well, I guess that's the point and the problem. But why should should anyone expect this forum to lift the ban on those who were banned for cause and now populate the other forum when the other forum effectively bans many of us simply by not allowing us to join in the first place.

I understand senor lil'stick's point about the public/private aspect. I guess it's a a conundrum, wrapped in a taco, smothered in hot sauce, it is.

"Stunned" Hey? Bit over dramatic! This is an open discussion. Between all parties. Why should they be in agreement? We've not agreed anything yet. It's not a dictatorship, despite what people may think!

Ummm, senor puffdude....he's talking about the mods on the OTHER FORUM banning him before he even posted ON THAT forum. Not sure how that applies to this forum?

TJ... I was refering to the first part of Dean's post...
IMO anybody who had been banned for just cause should have the self respect not to want to come back anyhow..
On the other hand those that rose to the intolerance & attitude of certain people should be allowed a choice..
especially as it seemed a blanket ban was in force on some occasions...
& while I think about it..thread & post deletion should be used far less often..it has been used indiscriminately & not what it's usually used for,
after all, as Dean pointed out, it's not a dictatorship, but heavy handed censorship can make it feel like that...

What is that supposed to mean?

I don't see why this discussion has turned into a personal attack on TJ?

Hi Adam, it means what it says..for instance I'm a member of the PRA. if I wanted TJ to be a member he would not be allowed if neither he or his family had any association with the Parachute Regiment.
Please don't try to turn what I say into a personal attack on anyone, least of all TJ..if you noticed earlier in the thread I supported his often misunderstood posts..because unlike some, I do 'get him'.
If you have something constructive to say towards the issues then I'm all ears, but please don't try to antagonise in an already sensitive & emotive thread.
Thank you Jacobwaits, I'm glad you read that as I did..I won't be provoked into anything silly..
