Well its the morning after the smoke and my throat feels like ive been gargling glass. I think I'll avoid that particular cigar from now on. I'm looking forward to trying my Olivia serie G next

I'll try and find a montecristo, i do have some Romeo y julieta cigars. Maybe I should try that.

Mostly.

Do they get better the more money you spend or the longer you age them?

Not even hardly. Many BOTL prefer the strength and vigour of fresher cigars and many cheaper Cubans age remarkably well. Each vitola has its individual taste and aging merits, the fun part is trying to unfathom what these are before they become too old and expire in the box. Most will outlive me though!

I haven't been smoking cigars for too long but I do agree with the fact it is down to personal taste - I like certain brands, whether they be Cuban, DR, Honduran or Nicaraguan. If it's good on taste for you then go for it

Aye Fordi, thereby lies the rub; tighter good, too tight bad. Many would say that Havanas weakness is too many of the later detracting from the former but I have been pretty lucky over the yrs.

The most interesting cigar I have smoked was a RyJ Mille Fleurs which completely changed flavour half way through, I was so impressed I made my wife taste it (wasted). The only let down was that she made me leave it after an hour because we were in a bar and it was starting to piss her off a bit. I agree with Sean though, I am reluctant to smoke my small stock of Cubans too but that's what they're for Sean.

I will echo both. The cubans I have smoked tend to be tighter packed than the NC for some reason. I do prefer the tighter draw.

I think the Fonsecas might be quite misleading as well, although I quite like them and I think they are really good value, they are not the best cubans out there

I just looked over my notes on the cigars I've smoked over the last six months or so (since I started) and all of my very favourite cigars have been cuban. I have nothing against sticks from other countries, just seem to enjoy cubans more!

Had a fonseca cosacos the other night and found it pretty 1 dimensional but then had a monty no.2 day before that and found it brilliant. But its all down to your own palate like with anything mate its in the eye of the beholder. Myself i like NC's and will always go to my collection of them before cubans but hey thats just me

One the whole I find that Cubans are the best, but there are some bad Cubans, and there are also some very good New World cigars
