Do the test and come up with your own conclusions i can't say why, even if it means buying the cheapest tubed cigars
leave one in take the other out leave say for 6 months.

        Little Stick!

Actually, I think it's a function of age, storage conditions and the evaporation of precious oils over time. Most of the well-aged puros (10+ years) stored in don TJ's massive unit have some shrinkage, as indicated by their loose bands.

The fact that your un-tubed sticks shrunk duirng a short period may reflect issues with your storage conditions. I have never suffered shrinkage (in my puros) is such a short period.

        Boy, Bag Boy

Haha! Not according to Catalina Joy, Bag Boy!

Yeah, those conditions appear spot on. Still, I can't imagine that much shrinkage in a short period unless they were over humidified to begin with. Very intriguing...

Exactly why I can't splash out any further

Cigar shrinking is a sign of good ageing!

Totaly agree with you on that one but can you explain why the ones in the tubes which are different brand but same year haven't shrunk.

Cause the seal on the tube slows down the exchange of air and they will be at a higher humidity inside than the rest of your humi one of the reason you will find tubos can be prone to mold.

No sign of mould on any of the tubed ones fresh as the day i got them.

Never said your tubos had mold, said they are more prone to mold as the tube can become over humidified as is designed to hold humidity in. Do you get what I am saying about the reason your cigars in your tubos are at a higher humidity (The reason the bands are tight and not loose like the other sticks in your humi) Though I do suspect your humi is not running at 69 rh if your bands are coming loose in short time period.

IMHO, 69 is too high for a Cuban ready-to-smoke-ador.
65 is getting around perfect in my wine-a-dor with the bottom section on 67. the bottoms shelf contains mostly vintage stock that i will never smoke on a binge or instinctively.

I`ve been looking for a good priced set of digital callipers to test this sort thing myself. Comparing exact size at time of purchase to how they fair in my humidor to see if I`m storing correctly. Then again if shrinkage is natural then not sure....
