        Gentlemen,

Actually we check and authenticate all auction Lots and reject a fair few that are submitted.

Where I am uncertain I defer to Edward Sahakian for advice regarding Davidoff cigars as he has a more extensive knowledge than me and Simon Chase for any other cigars I am not 100% certain about. Both Gentlemen have always been exceptionally helpful.

I would like to think we describe all auction Lots accurately and most auction Lots are available for viewing. if prospective bidders can not view we are always happy to offer condition reports by email.

We occasionally will accept Lots that are not in smokeable condition if we believe they have collectible/ curiosity value and we would describe as such

There is always a small possibility ( cant remember it happening so far and we have sold Millions of Pounds worth of cigars at auction since 2009) that we will make an error in which case we would simply cancel the sale and refund the bidder.

We did missdescribe a box of La Corona in error at one of our on-line auctions earlier this year. We pasted a description of Cuban La Corona from a previous auction whereas the cigars were in fact rolled in the USA. the sale was cancelled and the bidder refunded

There is a risk when purchasing a sealed box as one can never be certain if the contents are wonderful or useless but the successful buyer has the option of opening or asking us to open and check the cigars immediately following the sale and if the cigars are in bad condition or weevil damaged we will cancel the sale. where buyer opts to leave the box sealed and is dissatisfied some months later there is no recourse. so it is always a risk that has to be considered.

I doubt an entry could get past our checking where the cigars are younger than the box as such. Vintage and mature cigars have many tell tale differences to recent production cigars.

The Montecristo Gran Reserva in the sale are being sold by a seller well known to us and I have no doubt as to their authenticity otherwise we would not have accepted the entry.

As with everything I have sold online since 1994 ( as well as in our retail cigar shops throughout the UK) I have always guaranteed everything we say and everything we do.However, we are only normal human beings, we do make mistakes no doubt from time to time but it remains impossible for any customer to lose money dealing with us. We were the first cigars merchant to offer no quibble guarantees back in 1994.

As I am wholly unaware of any client that has an unresolved complaint with C.Gars I see no merit in responding to an anonymous website as mentioned. As a 50 year old Gentlemen I will not start behaving and responding like a 10 year old child in a school playground which I dare say is the desire of the anonymous person who created the site.

My Team and I are available 24 -7 in the unlikely event any clients have any queries or complaints which we will always gladly resolve to clients satisfaction.

        Best

        Mitchell

A good, reassuring response. I'm glad to hear of the care taken over your selection of auctioned lots. Thanks Smokeymo.

If it is not breaking any of your auction rules, may I ask do you get many instances of opening sealed boxes from decades ago to find them in an un-fit state to be smoked and had to cancel the sale?

I don't mean a bit rough round the edges, I mean completely could not be smoked for whatever reason

It shall stay sealed then, at my own peril I obviously realise. That's if I even win it after all lol

If you intend to smoke them yourself Wigan, rather than collecting them & possibly re-selling in the future I would ask Mitch to open the box after the auction. As he has said above, if they are in a bad state, he will cancel the sale if you receive them sealed the risk really is yours & if you intend to open them anyway that seems an unnecessary risk. Of course they might look fine & still be duff but that is the risk we take on open boxes too!

Yes I would get Mitch to check them too, he has the ability that I do not have.
