Not necessarily always American either ... I was in Cuba for my 50th birthday ... On that night and a few mojitos in ... Some lady stood beside our table ( in the lounge ) tapping her toe saying " it stinks here " ... My answer " fck off lady we are not in Canada anymore " .

What you should have said was, 'Cross your legs then lady'

Are you saying someone was complaining about the smell of cigars whilst in cuba? It sounds like that's what your saying its just so incredulous I have to double check!
I think if you asked ahead of time if it is ok then they should suck it up (literally) and contemplate their stupidity at not checking if it was a smoke free resort. If it's that big a deal for them I would think that would be sensible research ahead of booking.
Failing that Id probably just close my door for the duration or ask for a polite shout before lighting up so that I could remove myself. After all if anyone should go elsewhere it shouldn't be the Coro's who are playing the game by the rules after all.
In short, "if you don't like it, piss off anericano" or try being polite, I might actually feel inclined to meet you halfway.
I too have noticed this, but its the smell of fresh cigar smoke not the smell that's left behind.
Leave all the windows in my flat open Friday morning when I went home at weekend and it would still stink nasty of cigarette smoke on Monday night when I got back. Even to me, a smoker.
Next morning after a cigar or 2 and still a pleasant sweet smell. Open the window for an hour or 2 and gone

Sod it, throw cigar butts at their window.... if they complain about that, get drunk and throw poo at their window while screaming like a chimp.
Now, now...I appreciate all the well thought out suggestions, but we don't want to lower ourselves to the low standards of northern invaders, now do we? I did, however, conform with management that smoking fine puros IS ALLOWED on the decks in my building. So take that you gringo bastardos!
On another note, I made it into town and visited the local LCdH and the things I saw there....OMG!
But since most of you have turned in by now, I'll save the story and pics until tomorrow. But let me leave you with this teaser - I got a look at the very last box available in all of Mexico of the most excellent Edmundo Dantes Conde 54, 2011 Mexican Regional Edition! But 20,000 pesos for the box was a tad too much for me
