It wouldnt be a bank holiday without sunburn.... So in an attempt to calm the heat on my head i took to the terrace with the above custom rolled davidoff to smoke as a sundowner.. As the sunset painted the sky about fifty different colours, the air temp plummetted, I'm delighted to say that i enjoyed the above pictured smoke with a dram, and it was an absolute belter.

A calm composed and restrained smoke the opening quarter was sweet, silky and soft. Loads of cigar store humidor cedar too. Middle half evolved as it went through. The underlying sweetness remained, both in the mouth but on my lips too. The taste i kept getting was the sweetness you sometimes get from licking good old fashioned envelopes with a heavy glue strip. This then matured into grassy notes, accompanied by the gentle earthy flavours of caffetiere coffee. At times it even gave suggestions of tasting a little ( and i mean a little) bit cuban. The final stretch was more intense, chewy, and serious. Not overbearing but something to let you know you were putting it to bed on a high.

I dont know if Felix Padilla ( if i have remembered his name right) is up to these days, but as a Master Roller for Davidoff back in the day, the boy did good!

Smokes done good. Reckon i should turn 40 a bit more often!!

But the pic is a hand rolled Davidoff pyramides ... Felix Padilla (sp?) a gigantic man with huge spades for hands one of the Davidoff master rollers at the time was doing demos in Harrods. For a huge man, his hands were so deft and flowed over the leaf. He had a small selection of moulds with him, and was itching to make pyramides but hadn't brought the mould. So asked if I could get him a newspaper, which I did and he promptly used the first 4 pages of to make into a mould and made this beautiful smoke! I also have a long lancero style stick that he made which I will save some more. There were others, but I smoked them green as green could be - a very different and enjoyable experience!

I think this chap has aged long enough, and will be dust come Friday!!
I missed this post first time round, it looks great and I'm pleased to here it smoked well
