I'm on the hunt for fellow cigar smokers when I'm out and about. Not like a crazed stalker, you understand, but just because I like to see and smell what other people are smoking.

This is not one-upmanship. It is simply because on numerous occasions I've had great conversations with cigar men which started on the topic of cigars and then widened out.

I do keep my eyes open for the birds, as TJ sometimes quaintly says, when moving about in my life at the same time as sniffing out cigar smokers.

If I spotted a woman smoking a big one, and engaged in conversation with her, I fear after a certain amount of time I would explode.

I've now met a few cigar smokers, all of whom have been excellent company. A shared passion is always a good starting point for an amenable conversation!

PS. Cohiba Fan's crooze.fm suggestion is a good one. There were a few off the wall tracks the night that I tried it, but generally some really nice relaxing tracks.

Glad you are enjoying it mate

It is varied, but they generally play down tempo tunes, perfect for relaxing with a cigar

www.jazzfm.com is always a winner too.

What I like about all the people Ive met here is everyone has been genuine and friendly with none of this I know more than you , or you shouldnt do that vibe. its all good

Spot on there with that for me
Especially when you meet someone and they say "oh yeah, I smoke cigars" you get really interested and excited about the potential what in your humi discusssions when they follow it with " I love the cafe crem?s and at xmas or birthdays I'll treat myself to one of those big Castellas!!
The disspointment you get is like being told that nice shiney bike you wanted as a kid for xmas was out of stock but we still got you the puncture repair kit and the pump.

The other thing, everyone on here does know more than me! so I cant complain.

Right I'm off to finish my Castella.... errm, I mean Partagas.

I've met a shit-load of cigar-shop salesmen I don't like...arrogant snooty bastiches sometimes .As well as Lawyers who think price dicktates quality. An dick tates is what I ment. Gone to huge Herfs of about 2000 fellow cigar folks and the people that I knew met friends and made like they didn't even know me. Must have not been friends. Get emails from them but never reply. Dick heads think who the fu k they are. Most in my area are great BOTL that I would give any smoke to anytime no matter the $. So to answer the question Yes there are fellow cigar folks that I've met that I didn't care for.

Every 1 I met here are very kind and giving. I enjoy the contacts I've made here ,So much I very rarely visit those sites> Shit on them.

Back to the subject: Just because people enjoy cigars doesn't clasify them as B/OTL. Trust me on this one.Belong to other forums and people think after a short time they are seniors BS! arrogant snooty bastiches they are.

I've met more than a few, but I'm not a particularly tolerant man. Smoking cigars doesn't make you a good person and it doesn't make you a bad person. But I've met more than a few twats chomping on a stogie. Funny thing is a few of them have taken to me once I lit up.... but by that point its too late to restore my faith in them. If it takes me lighting up to be accepted I'd rather sit it out on my own!

Mind you.... I've met a few awesome folk who were BOTL.

                        Stop Romaticizing

Gald to see some realists here who don't see cigar smokers through rose-colored glasses or romaticize the cigar community.

TJ occasionally travels to the "Capital of the World" (Washington DC), and when he does, he always visits one of the last resturaunts in DC where you can still enjoy a fine puro along with a meal -the famous Shelly's Back Room restaurant.

Unfortunately, so do many of the grumpy ol' pundents and politicians.... or shit-fucks, as TJ's likes to call some of them. It's amazing how they can ruin a fine Habano puro!

                          Looks familiar, matey.

You’ll never find the “Bothy” on your own. Tucked away in the Hotel du Vin’s courtyard, this hidden gem is Glasgow‘s only sheltered smoke spot. So, while the rest of Scotland endures wind and rain with each precious puff, you can stay dry and enjoy every draw. Oppressive may render smoking a chore, but the Bothy brings the pleasure back. Scotland‘s smoking laws make those in the United States seem downright accommodating. On our side of the Atlantic, most tobacconists find space for at least a few chairs, or accept that customers will stand around the shop for a bit while partaking of their recent purchases. Even this luxury, though, is not afforded by the regulations ...

Hopefully I will meet some interesting characters. I shall report back with my findings.

Senor Fan, I believe this place was featured in one of the major cigar mags - Cigar Aficionado or Cigar Magazine.

Looks like a very cool place to enjoy good company and a fine puro.

                          Enjoy!

More likely it was the stence coming from your arse that drove the poor bloke away.

A woman came towards me across the main square in Brussels the other day. The place was very busy with tourists like myself.

She saw my cigar and started fanning her nostrils with a magazine. She might have been one of those unliberated kind of Dutch folk.

I timed my pass-by with precision and I let go of my mouthful carefully which successfully curled and brown-clouded round her nostrils and forehead. She flapped about in a bit of a gay faff and I just walked by, stick in gob and smiling.

She was squirming bait, frankly, it and I can't tell you how ecstatic I was with my aim.
