How do you get the bands off un-lit cigars ....

If Cuban cigars get confiscated going to the States then the addressee will receive a letter from Customs. They don't just disappear with no word. Sometimes it can take a while for a package to arrive so I wouldn't despair prematurely.

Once off, are the bands to be posted separately so they just slip under the guard poodles?

I say this as a man who posted a package off three weeks ago today to a non-Cuberoid countried BOTL which appears not to have by-passed the snifferage. I think I should have de-banded them and slung the coloured papers over later via FedEx.

Keep the faith, senor big guy. From what mis amigos tell me, sometimes it takes a wee bit of time to arrive at it's final destination. Slipping the bands off would not have hurt if they were replaces with other, more suitable ones, but it's my understanding that in some lands of the free treat naked puros as contraband.


So lad....are you sure you posted the package to the correct addy? Has your friend noticed any neighbors strutin' about the hood with a big, fat stick and a stupid grin?

I agree with that. I certainly enjoy looking at pics of cabinet cigars with no labels. There's a certain air of unassuming and understated quality about them. Very classy.

Good point! I have to agree. A large portion of my cigars are bandless. That's cuz they weren't rolled in a factory I guess though so no brand to show on a band!

True enough although bands certainly are designed to encourage the smoker to buy one brand over another. I swear some cigars have more band than leaf visible. More cabinet cigars have bands these days - I think it takes something away from the powerful image of a cabinet 50.

I have never had a reason to remove them and never asked a vendor to do so because of the damage that is very likely to occur. If you're worried about shipping to, say some country where Habanos would be a no-no compared to a Nicaraguan, you are worrying too much. Ship them and be sensible about what you write on certain slips of paper. The odds of your one, single little box getting pulled out of the thousands it travels with are very slim indeed.
