I keep my bands on, 1st to avoid damage 2/ I hope others will notice & mention brands/ cigar conversation. Yep I keep all my bands too. I write the date & where I smoke them on the inside & put them in a glass tankard. I can dip my hand in & pull out a special memory every time
I do prefer the old cab's like Boli CG's & Hoyo's without bands, some stix seem to suit bands better but cab's look better without. Of course if you find one these days, they'll already be nicely aged.

I always leave them on. I never get the chance to smoke in public as I don't have any cigar smoking friends to go out with so showing off isn't a concern of mine! I like to appreciate the look of the band as I smoke a cigar although some NCs can be a little OTT!

I leave them on until I get further down. The heat from the smoke softens the glue (and the stick) and reduces the probability of tearing the wrapper when removing the band.

Little medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these
I agree with what Puff Scotty said initially. I was told when first intoduced to cigar smoking, that smoking with one's cigar band showing was somewhat naff and ostentatious. If smoking in private at home, then I tend to leave the band on until it gets close to the ash, and by that time, the glue is normally sufficiently melted to easily pick the band apart at the seal. If I am smoking in company with colleagues or friends then I tend to remove the band - I normally try to do it before I cut the cigar if it is fairly loose, otherwise, I leave it until the whole length of the cigar has had a chance to warm up and try again.
