I had the first of the two I got of these. The first third was amazing, I would believe it was Cuban if you told me. The middle third was a a good smoke, the final third was a different animal that I didn’t really enjoy but it was smoked straight from the postman so I will have another smoke next month and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks PeeJay, overall I’d say a good smoke. Looking forward to finding out what these are.

I would agree..the first third is the most Cuban non Cuban i have ever smoked.. And now it's going all spicy and non Cuban on me which I love so it's really hitting all bases

Smoking the first one today. Not sure about Cuban flavours, but in the first inch I already had 3 flavour transitions. Fantastic. Loving it so far.

Don't know what it is, but I'd say it has a good amount of domenican tobacco in it .

I haven't had a chance to smoke this yet due to my injury, but I'm excited to know it's one of these. I read about the non-cuban Montecristo's a couple of months ago and find them intriguing. Is this the only Cuban marca that also produces non-cuban cigars?

They're not the same marca, you can get cigars branded under the same name from most of the Cuban marcas from Non-Cuban brands. Who that brand is gets a bit complicated many including Monte are the originals owners who set up elsewhere when forced to hand over their companies during the revolution.

There's a drjoeshow episode where he goes into this.

Back in the day the brands were created in Cuba. The blends, the marketing established these brands. Then at the time of the revolution a lot of people left Cuba. And they set up, again, producing cigars in other countries. They took their experience, their brands, they grew and blended cigars that they sold under the brands they had established back in Cuba.

They are completely separate entities now Cuban montecristo and non cuban montecristo. Completely separate. Same with other brands. So which brands are the originals...? The ones left in Cuba or the ones reborn outside Cuba as the people left?

Now of course not all the people left so some brands might not have been phoenixed by any of the original families. But rode the coat tails of the established brands. Not sure what the origin of Cohiba red dot is actually...

But they are not there same companies.

Hirochi seems to still be in charge of the family operation in Cuba, V, but also now produces out of Cuba, HR. A unique situation?

Have a read of the histories.
                              .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...
