Good question, I'd leave them in (they won't absorb moisture) if you're going to pass it around to your lucky friends in the man cave, if you expect it to sit on a desk/table & everyone helps themselves then you could take them out, I am guessing it was to avoid wrapper damage from movement, when taken around the restaurant
/ library by the waiter. However if you remove them, I would keep them safe in case you ever pass it on again.
