  • Partagas Serie D No. 4

A very kind gift from Sean in the pass the cigar game. Bless him he was worried the cap had split but as photos 2 and 3 show there was a tiny patch of wrapper that had lifted a little in transit but the cap was pristine and punched effortlessly.

    Length 4.9"
    Gauge 50

    Build
Well wrapped with veins so fine they are almost invisible. Firm and very well packed. Punched with my 8mm punch and the draw was effortless. Clearly a premium product and frankly the build is impeccable.

    Taste
Pre-draw was very very light, perhaps just a hint of clean earth. The first few draws after lighting were difficult to describe, really just a good clean tobacco taste. Leather came in quickly and built over the first third. Second third the leather mellowed and that clean earthiness came back. Last third a very subtle spice came in at the end but was never a prominent flavour. This was a beautiful medium to light smoke to my taste.

Conclusions I've heard a lot of good word on the PSD4 and had it on my 'bucket list' of Cubans to try. It has not disappointed. This was an excellent cigar throughout. There isn't a huge hit of nicotine though for full disclosure I had to leave this at the last inch (I'd usually smoke own to about a half inch) because the heavens started opening. Could quite happily smoke another one of these this evening which is probably the highest praise I could give. It also lit incredibly easily and although the burn was a little uneven it consistently self corrected and never needed a touch up or relight.

Truly this is a first class cigar and many thanks to Sean for introducing me to this little gem!

I really like them. The P2 is better though. Stone people hate them, I dint know why but they do. This was my first ever box purchase. Got a box of 10 think I have about 3 left. My advice is get some more of you loved it. They are also good young.

Why do 'stone' people hate them? You shouldn't generalise about the flexibility restricted!

Mick Jagger can't stand them so their fans have boycotted the PSD4 Also note I look like a total mormon

Personally I have only ever smoked one D4 I have enjoyed and that was a Reserva.

Still it is one more than the P2's of which I have never liked one. I guess its possible I am not a big Partagas fan?

oi monks! methinks the Reservas are a tad different blend! just like the monte reserva with its weird "marble cake" footed blend

PS. welcome back! where've you been?
