Awesome first review. Keep them coming!
I'm interested to try the guantanamera brand as I regularly smoke jlp and quintero to give my wallet a break between the cohiba, h upmann and r&j that I really like.

Does anyone know if these are the of cuts off other cigars??
I believe I'm right in saying that jlp's are Montecristo of cuts?

Thanks for reviewing this as I was thinking of buying some. Sounds like it might do for a cheap cigar!
            I love smocking!

No. JLP are made from tobacco grown in the Vuelta Arriba. Montecristo are produced from better quality Pinar del Rio tobacco.

Off-cuts I'm not sure what you can really do with them, other than put them through some sort of chopper and process them into cigarettes.

La Aurora Chicos are apparently made with off cuts as are the other flavoured cigars available in the DR. They chop them up and use them as short filler, or so I was told.

I got given one of these upon entrance to Club Tropicana. Not smoked it yet (thankfully)

I tried one of these last week and thought it was an OK smoke for the price I paid ~ ?1.60 (definitely not worth the UK price of ?6). I actually bought two 5 packs in the airport as I was heading home and I had some left over pesos (and the cigar shop in the back of the airport was shut). Once I achieve pm and trading priveleges I'll offer them up for anyone who wants to sample one.

I remember trying these a few years ago... really didn't like them. For me, there are cheaper and better options out there.
