• Cohiba Box Codes

Morning all

I know this is a perpetual debate but wondered if anyone could advise;

I'm tempted to buy a box of Siglo IV's and have been offered the following codes, MUL NOV 14 , LUB JUN 14 , ULE JUL 14.

Can anyone offer an opinion? I've heard people mention MUL & ULE before, but never paid attention to where they were...

Cheers!

Thought you'd sold up and quit smoking?
Or have you accepted the Mrs can have your testicles and you'll carry on smoking anyway?

Tried to sell up but failed miserably!

Had a Davidoff the other day and throughly enjoyed it so decided to get back into it-in moderation of course! Bonus is all my sticks have had another 6-7months aging!

She'll be alright, if not I can always trade her in for a younger model! 😜

I am sure butters will be along with some profound gibberish about your box codes. I cant let anyone know the source but, the first one is to be avoided because manuel sandbagger worked there during his "mellow" years but I have refutable proof that the second one may reveal the location of the ark of the covenant.

Something along thoses lines eh butternutsquashpie

We've had this conversation before and I know you don't use them, that's fine.
But I would never ridicule your deposition. I ask that you don't mine - especially since you (as you've self proclaimed to) haven't understood or even tried to understand the point.

I mean, really? I go on here and offer up my own experiences on boxes, conversations, and the mysterious code source. The least you could do is ignore them and not bring them up.

None withstanding, I'm going to post an answer up and you're welcome to either question the validity of the statement or clarification on the prose.
Barring either, feel free to make fun. But until then, please hold off any and all jabs towards it.

+1! I know Wiggy, definitely just a joke. But kudos all the same Wigan for being the big man and holding your hands up!

Whilst I am not someone who agrees that getting a specific factory code makes that huge a difference to the standard of cigars you'll receive (and certainly is far from a guarantee of quality), Jeremy is isn't the only person places importance in it, and in particular some people chase El Laguito Cohibas so this is certainly a valid question

I think Butters spends too much time listening to FOH. And why confine an Urban Myth soley to Cohiba, because what it implies is that only El Laguito do a satisfactory rolling job and therefore anything rolled anywhere else won't be as good. It's neither demonstrable or true, but if people choose to believe it and adhere to it as a Cohiba purchase 'willy-wave' it does have a certain 'one-up' effect.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Completely agree Arf, was just pointing out chasing specific codes isn't a Butter-ism

We are, ol' Wiggy... It's just been a long day and was on the bus after waking up at noon late for something. Sorry you had to endure that...

Not quite, Arf. Whilst others primarily chase down MUOs or BTOs, I rarely touch Cohiba regular productions. But when I do, I go for the box of Cohiba Siglo IIIs - which, to my knowledge have NEVER been rolled at El Laguito.
I have found it (and consistently so) to be the most consistent cigar coming out of the Cohiba line - other than the so-so BHKs (which are priced 3x more than the Siglo IIIs but worth 3 times less in my opinion )
Anyway, I normally propogate the TEB box coded cigars. Never have I found a bad TEB box code - any Bolivar, all Bolivar/Ramon Allones regions, and even the RACSS! Call me a teb slut

Funnily, it wasn't even FoH who started it for me. Rather, I see the myth of the El Laguito placed on consistent tales of worker morale. That rarity is why I still cite El Laguito as being the better factory. Along with the fact that IT'S FREE TO SWITCH TO BOX CODES. An MUO box code of Cohibas costs the same as an ASS box code of Cohibas - all vitolas being equal. Why would you choose FOR FREE the box code that you know/ love?

That is my quarrel in the end. No one advertises the box codes. No one chooses one over the other in terms of pricing. No one prices XXX over YYY. Why would you not cherry pick box codes when provided the list/ availbility!?
Me, personally, when I'm spending a few five digit sum on cigars every year - fucking right I'm going to make sure I choose the best boxes for the least money.
