Chippy by trade but been building one off houses for last 15 years take it for granted I suppose but do get a sense of pride when you walk away from a completed project I build log cabins as well import timbers from Montana

Building a cabin is my life's dream! I would love to do it by a lake by hand like Dick Proenneke.

Though my skills will need sharpening before I can take on such a big project. You work is very impressive, perhaps one day I can take inspiration and live in a property as beautiful as that.

Cabins are lovely to build and fairly straight forward a few simple rules to stick to and the same with all construction good preparation and planning ,you always have to have the finished product in your head and work backwards a small detail wrong in the beginning can compound itself into a major issue at the end. Lots of chain saw work so you have to be careful

Well I have got the go ahead from the Mrs for a wooden shed with attached log storage on one side and a small attached greenhouse and duck coop on the other. So I guess when I get the time and funds to start that I can get some practice in.

Well practice makes perfect and the best way to get good at something is to learn from your mistakes, there is no better teacher than your own practical experience. I've been doing this for over 30 years and still learning everyday the man who says he knows it all generally knows bigger all
