I think you're wrong about cars. They're exactly the same. Some people buy certain ones because they're expensive bling I'm better than you.
There's only a few that are bought because of what they deliver.
It seems to be mainly insecurity with me those spending the most on big obvious brands are desperate to project the image of success whereas the truly successful couldn?t give a fuck what everyone else thinks!
Admittedly I?m quite picky with brands with clothing but none of them have visible branding and I buy based on fit and how long it lasts. The average person has no idea what engineered clothing and most of the brands I like are though!

I mean, anyone who spends more than ?200 (or maybe ?500) on a watch is buying it *because* its expensive. Its not like cars where you get a very tangible roi - mechanical watches tell time worse than quartz ones. We are social peacocks all of us.
I agree. What is this obsession with brands anyway? Worst is clothing where people are just walking adverts for brands; presumably they do it because they think the brands are 'exclusive', whereas the fact that every w****r wears it means it isn't, plus the irony that so many items are fakes anyway! Regardless of the product, if something is well-designed and well made, the quality will show, often through the perfectly executed simplicity. Also, even if no one 'gets-it', you have the satisfaction of knowing...
Now, where did I put my 'Versarce' sun-glasses, 'Gucci' shoes and 'Tommy H' T-shirt? Can't have people thinking any less of me!

Big old difference between a crap replica and a well made original design tourbillon! Just because all of the crap comes from China doesn't mean that everything that comes from there is crap.
I also definitely could not wear a replica. People ask you if it's real and either you lie, or you tell them it's not, and you look like a clown, and why buy a fake then say it's one... I don't get it.
Yes admittedly the quality of the fakes that are being produced in China are getting increasingly close and the quality of some of the replicas is amazing considering the huge price difference. But I still wouldn?t wear one and they?re far from a cheap watch still

Or a ?5-600 replica Chinese but I don?t think I could wear one myself!

A Breitling Chronomat is my daily, had that for almost 20years.
A Tudor Blackshield, got a great deal for a full ceramic case.
A black faced Tag Monaco.
G Shock for holidays
And a series 3 Apple Watch for when I?m expecting to have my hands tied up most of the day as it?s easier to read emails without locating my phone.
The Saxonia is a lovely but if I step up to that level my next purchase is likely to be a Rolex Submariner or AP Royal Oak
Nice collection. I'd love a royal oak - my absolute grail. Almost perfect save the meagre water resistance. And exorbitant price tag.
