crackhead.gif Umm. If you were able to get into System Restore, you computer was not too infected. When I got the "bug," it would not let me access any programs except a link to a faux fix site which is the point were they try to grab your credit card number.

Sound like you got out quick!

Did system restore as far back as I could go in safe mode and now doing an intensive spyware scan which will take a few hours...

If that fails TJ then I shall Skype asap..

Fellow UKCF Members:

A while back, Ray Jay was fukin' around on don TJ's lap top surfin' porn sites when he got a pop-up Alert that the computer was under a virus attack. The choice was to click "Yes" or "No" to stop the attack. Naturally, Ray Jay clicked " Yes" and it took him to a web site that was selling Virus Protection.

A so-called IT expert told us this is the latest Credit Card stealing scheme out of Georgia ...and any interaction with the invader, including attempts to "X" out of the warning message, downloads the virus.

The cure is to immediatly shut down your computer when you receive an "under attack" or "scanning for viruses" pop-up warning.

So Ray Jay had to shell out $300 to cure TJ's laptop of the virus...which is about what the laptop cost!!

Well today, an amigo told me his computer was infected by the same virus and that he had closed (X) the warning screen once before remembering to turn off his computer.
Consequently he is still able to log onto the internet via "Safe Mode." And since the virus won't let him scan for virus via his computer, he tried an internet program (ESET Online Scanner), but no viruses were detected.

So....any suggestion from our IT experts what else he can try, short of wiping the hard drive?
