Yes, I...er, my friend will not be buying again soon.

Look at the bright side: You definitely have learned your lesson and probably won't bid in an auction again. And on top of that you have warned us all.

            • So not x1.38 is actually x1.43 markup. Yikers!

Will factor that in on the Grandes du Espana [emoji16]

Last Grandes du Espana I know of went for undisclosed amount of at least 750€ so I'll guess 800€ (approx 705?) less shipping
Last box on commercial auction I can see was 400? in Dec2017 - so say ?600 after charges & vat & shipping. So worth knowing the prices things shift for!

I have a small problem with all those cigars on FB. Mostly trust issues. There's one guy who has nice stuff, but his prices are a little hefty. I have seen you participate in his auctions Simon.

As with every transaction, one takes a punt. I reduce the risks by only using a couple European based sites, only buying from those living in Belgium, Holland or Germany, from sellers who have good records & have already sold to happy customers on the site. Never 100% risk free, still relying on the post ect but I haven't had egg on my face so far. And the seller I guess you're referring to Mike, is an excellent chap; we have corresponded for over a year & swapped some fine vintage smokes, on top of doing business. When I had problems with delivery, he was understanding & I have been very happy with his service. The prices for whole vintage boxes, especially Pre-Rev are crazy but comparable to Mitch's. Last month I noted he was selling a box of Cuaba Piramides 2009 for E390, I offered him a pristine box for E350's worth of his vintage cigars. A pretty good deal for him & for me, as the Belgian tax bands show I only paid E190. I chose SP Molonis x13 & Monte Esp No2 x 13 both 2001, I sent a couple of extra sticks with my box & he sent these. If you can't see clearly, there's a 1970's Monte No3, PL Super Cedros '=1969 & Jose Garnier 1959 (year of my birth). I haven't had a No3 pre-'90, never had a Super Cedros (this was mostly sold in Canada & Spain apparently) & never seen a Jose Garnier which were deleted after the Revolution. Friendship has it's benefits!

Wow, those are some pretty cool cigars that you have traded with him!
