  • Cold brewed coffee

Been chatting today with some of the guys about cold brewed coffee. What is it? Its ground coffee that's brewed in cold water for twelve hours or more to give a naturally sweeter and less bitter coffee which has not been oxidised. Cold brew coffee filter jugs are readily available but get one that makes a litre to save faffing around, its only ?16 on Amazon. Once made you can add the coffee concentrate to hot or cold water to drink. I like it iced, a touch of flavoured syrup, two thirds coffee to one third cold milk and ice cubes. My wife tends to drink here coffee black so today I made her a Nespresso Americano but put the cold coffee concentrate in instead of milk. That went down well. The concentrate should keep in the fridge for up to a week and the used coffee grounds are compostable. Give it a try.

I'm going to go the DIY option to start with. Make sure I like it before splashing the cash.
I already have plenty of coffee filter cones and a holder so will try it in smaller batches at first.

I like theory behind it & the promise of bringing out the flavours of lighter roasts. Kenyan beans are my fave.

Recon I'll try it tonight in my French press, give it a try 1st, not ever been in to cold coffee before but then it's not usually 35 degrees outside!

My thoughts too: try a brew in the French press and go from there. I've read suggestions of approx 70g of coffee for around 1/2 a litre. Maybe that should be .5 of a litre.
