I have smoked far older, less celebrated Cubans with more flav but some White Whales just have to be tried.

The ERDM is an amazing smoke, even better than the LGC version (& that's saying something). I am sure this made your day & proved my suggestion of having the Davidoff as the first smoke of the day so you could at least appreciate what it had left to give. The ERDM is a gem & will probably remain so for another 10yrs, if there are any left by then!
Yes, I really enjoyed smoking that piece of Cuban cigar history. I had it in the morning with a a couple of espresso and some sparkling water and was surprised by the strength left in it as I was expecting a very light cigar. It was a very pleasant morning smoke and I will try to smoke more pre 90s cigars in the future (I purchased a few very old cigars yesterday and will post them in my new additions thread shortly).

The Tainos was absolutely amazing. It was my first one and I hope that I'll be able to smoke more in the future. I have had the chance of smoking a few of the discontinued Churchills in the last few months and have to say that HSA killed this amazing vitola and the stellar range of cigars that were one part of the catalogue. I have singles of half of them in my stash now (one of them with a little help from you) but the missing ones are white whales so it will probably take a lot of patience to source them:

    Bolivar Churchill (tubos)
    Davidoff Dom Perignon
    Dunhill Estupendos
    La Flor de Cano Diademas
    Partagas Churchill de Luxe
    RyJ Clemenceaus
    RyJ Prince of Wales

And the San Luis Rey brand that was created for the German market in the 80s had a Churchill as well but I have never even seen one of the cigars from that portfolio.

Well, enough of my rambling about old cigars and thank you again for the opportunity to try my first Cuban Davidoff Simon!
