Nice carp there Johhny, nice end of season catch. Marc, that's a great time to get back into fishing. The excitement of kids catching their first few fish, is enough to re-ignite previous interest. try taking a short video clip of them reeling in & putting them back, great for the family archive. I am taking a close season now but preparing for my week on the Isle of Bute from 30th May. Hoping to spend a few days of the week up on Loch Awe, never been there before & have heard many interesting stories about large hard fighting pike & hoping it comes off. Will be sure to post any decent captures.

A few shots from my latest trip to France. Fishing nights only, ended with thirteen fish to 41lb 4oz.
This was a work party to build new fishing platforms on my friends lake.

Indeed sad but true today. I used to go at 04:00 bike to the pond on my own & fish all day no worries, wouldn't recommend that today. of course our gear wasn't worth much & I carried a big knife!

since the river is 5 minutes walk you never know who's about these days, and being on his own with all the gear in my opinion not safe.

Tackle theft during the night while asleep is a problem for carp anglers now. I use a PIR alarm to guard my rods, reels etc.
I think you are wise Tony. A young kid fishing alone is vulnerable to tackle theft.
