It was nice... Hard ruddy work.... We were raking up and barrowing out leaf mould to get the surfces of the pens nice and dry for scratching and new growth etc. We've been fortunate over the years with not too many health grumble with the birds, but reckon we will lime just in case.

we reckoned a few hundred barrowfulls!.... I ache now... Tomorrow will be proper sore!

Just spent the day raking out the pens ready for liming. A job that hasnt been done in years under the old guard in one of the syndicates i am a member of. Hard work but a job well done. Nice to be backin the wood. Plenty of birds about, although oodles of buzzards too, so the next job is getting some leilandi boughs in and stuff like that to bring in more roost space as well as scratching cover away from the built scratchers etc. While it was mighty chilly at times, it was good weather to be out. Spring definitely on its way!

It sure is emaresee good laugh from the minute we set off till the end.
Get to shoot the woodie's as well whoever wants to stay behind set off in different directions
that way we keep them flying to different parts of the woods and we all get a few shots when they come in to roost
at the moment they are feeding on the rape fields and their crops are bulging.
