Yes! This mild winter had been a pain when out beating through the undergrowth. We've got 7ft high nettles still through all the woods - and I'm sure they've been genetically modified for their stings!!!

Always nice when a bit of extra appreciation is shown.

Six or seven drives!? There would be a rebellion on my 'regular' shoot. It's good exercise though, and scary to think that the dogs do four or five times the distance!

I can well believe the distance beaters walk in a day and maybe more than 12-15 in one day we normaly do 6 to 7 drives
and some drives seem to never end when you are walking in the woods through thick cover.
Few of the guns yesterday having seen themselves what the beaters do they came over at lunch time and said what a good job we do to drive the birds to them
without us they woulden't be shooting the the amount they shoot on syndicate days which made us feel good.

Buggerme thats a big day....ours was ten percent of that! That said we're a self run self managed shoot! Albeit we shot x3 number of woodcock! Those that shot them, wanted to eat them. I saw close to a dozen that didnt go anywhere near the line, and more that went through the line without being shot at- bizarely our wood seems to bring them in, and yet a neighbouring shoot who dont shoot the, as they were taking part in the count, have seen barely any.

Bet the birds roar off that hill towards the woods!

    Shooting

Sounds like a fantastic day. Ours was good fun, but a bit brisk - today was the main beater's day with all the frivolities.

All the regulars were there for keeper's day yesterday though, and a homemade curry went down well as it was getting a bit nippy by the end!

Final bag, 497! Mixed bag (though mostly partridge), with a couple of woodcock thrown in. Will doubtless find out what they shot today at some stage. One more for the old boys on Monday too.

Really appreciate just how good a shoot it is now - having loaded several times and taken a couple of teams with my agency, so I'd seen they were good birds - actually shooting at them, however... Haha!

    Naughty pic from the peg...

Rather sad that I'm already excited for next season, planning has been going for a while now. Many teams already booked, and one of five roving syndicate days already in the book for next January 9th. Also excited for the chance to sit down properly with a couple of companies we're hoping to partner with once things slow down in February.

Fifty eight head for us yesterday Tony. The shoot is starting to get a bit quiet now.
Last one next week which I cannot make. It has been a poor season for me. Only managed to make it to four shoots.
