Could you technically laser etc the cigar band of a nub onto a nice piece of hardwood, effectively making a wooden nub, which I could then stain (my previous job) to make a nice polished wooden display nub of say the size of 2 cans of coke on top of each other?

Yes satch the machine has settings for leather.
It would not work on a curved surface though,
you could give me a bit of flat leather that you could some how stich or glue onto your seat this would work.

Right here is today's attempts. David would it be possible for you to do me a version with the image in black on a white background please?
I have not had a chance to wrap the image round a cylinder yet.
I hope the meeting with the physio went well today David.

This one will take a bit longer but I can wrap the image around the outside of a cylinder using the router and 4th axis attachment.I will try it in foam (Rohacell) first and then try it in wood. Could turn it down nice and short and stubby with a taper on one end, NUB like in fact and send it too El Catador (El Nubador)!
Never mind cat, send it to me, that sounds bloody awsome lol

OMG you guys, just read this thread in its entirety. Soooo awesome!

I didn't realise how much had stemmed from DR's design. Until I read this thread I just thought it was a case of "huh, DR has a new avatar and it's pretty slick." Now it seems we are talking about patches, UKCF cigars and box designs?! Brill. I have a vision of a trucker cap with the patch sewn to the front - redneck is cool, isn't it?
