Personally, I leave in tubes as I believe that adds something to the maturing process & ultimate flav but the cardboard adds nothing & is a mould risk if your humi's are slightly high - so personally I remove from cardboard.
You know what... I was literally just about to make a new post regarding the cardboard. I'd not thought about the potential mold issue, but I was more concerned about what the cardboard would do to the flavour, although I am smoking one now and its lovely so far, even after 6 years in cardboard, although I cant help thinking they'll be better kept in a wooden humidor.

So yes, I intend to ditch the cardboard and get them into my wooden humi as soon as I can after a reshuffle

They are young but in the end you have a number of years to smoke them slowly. I’m convinced you will like rhem

Well that's good to know then! I was going to get the Reyes, but thought they were far too mainstream :P

Haha I know what you mean, the problem with being on lockdown is I have way too much time to look at cigars and plan on what I want to buy next. I'm not going forward with the specific objective to age my stash for X number of years, but I figure that as long as I'm buying more cigars than I smoke (my pre-lockdown consumption was only 1-2 cigars a week at most) stuff will just end up ageing anyway. On the off chance that I do want to put specific cigars away, I'll probably get some cheaper cigars like Quinteros or JLPs so I don't feel tempted to dip into my other stuff.

Yeah CAD did take over at times! But that's mostly due to me deciding the quicker I buy the Cubans, the longer I'll be able to age them. I've barely touched any of the ones I've bought so far as I'm trying to wait to get a couple of years on them at least. But I'm more than happy to smoke through the NC stuff without having to worry about that.

Only things I'm missing now really are Punch and Trinidad to complete the collection of the 'major brands' regular production stuff.
