    Great cheap blended scotch

Peat without smoke too, so makes it uncommon.

I love peat, so you've got me there. I've never seen it available here in Portugal, so I'll have to check some of my UK whisky sources.

Never did try Ledaig... I guess I'll have to soon.

The Lidl malt blend - Ben Bracken 12yo... Is actually a very rare malt these days. Tamnavulin. Enjoy...

If you had to give up one, which would it be?

For me it would be the cigar. Whisky is far too important!

As far as generic blends go I like Famous Grouse (I know many don't) and Hankey Bannister, which used to be ?11 a bottle but has jumped to about ?17 too.
I don't know but I was looking for it online and just found out it had been stopped. I like Grouse too, the Black Grouse is pretty excellent but just a bit more than I like to pay for a blend.

I really need to find another go to blend, Grouse just doesn't quite feel right.

Wikipedia tells me they've reserved all the malt for Glenmorangie which is an absolute sin. The BNJ was an exemplar of blending lifting a mediocre malt into a top notch blend.
