Yes...Indeed! It takes a pound of trust and a wee bit of faith.

    So why take the chance?

Why not just put you mind rest and place a bid on a box of don TJ's Cohiba Sublimes EL 2004, currently resting comfortably in his massive unit, where they've been since 2004 when he selected them himself from a little place known as the LCdH Tijuna , Mexico.

The opening bid starts at-54,500 pesos.

I wouldn't like to say either way. And I'm certainly not trying to throw any kind of accusation in any direction.

Certainly not an accusation I can assure you! My question is asking 'how' auctioneers in general know. I'm sure there will be strict checks and criteria to meet prior to lots being placed up for auction, I'm just curious as to what they are.

Lets face it though without solid provenance, no one would know that let's say the 1992 box they had just spend ?1200 on hasn't been filled with 2010 sticks of the identical vitola...

Such a gamble with the high prices and the product...

I read a blog with some disturbing claims about the authenticity of some lots recently. I'm not going to post it as I don't know all the details and don't want to add credence to something I know nothing about the truthfulness of.

Im also not trying to ruffle any feathers or scare monger, but admittedly it's ruffled my feathers enough to stop me from bidding this time and I only make bids on cheap stuff anyway.

As I said I'm not going to post a link out of respect for the relationship between the forum and the retailer (unless requested to do so be either of those parties..... Highly unlikely.) but the information is out there on Google and make of it what you will.
